One of the items on my checklist is to make outfits for Grandma and I.  I'm a little worried, though.  I'd gotten so busy for a while that it seems I'm a little out of practice!  I've decided that if I'm going to get everything I need to done I need to make time each day to at least work on one of my checklist items.  First off, I need to come up with enough projects to practice my sewing and pattern-creating.  Second off... Ugh, as much as I hate the driving manual... Nn... Gah.

Anyway, I suppose I should explain these two projects.  The first is a bunny-shaped coin purse that I started prior to my weekend in California and finished this morning.  The second was a little stitching experiment.  I think I'll make some handkerchiefs soon, now that I've got embroidering with Miss Margarette down...

Progress

A hat, a muslin doll filled with rice, and a tagboard spellbook!  It seems a cute little witch is beginning to come to life.  Just a couple more little details and I'll have my sweet little companion ready to come with me anywhere.

A Cute Little Spellbook

I figured I ought to get used to Miss Margarette before attempting the plushie, so here it is: my nerve-cooling project.  A pin-cushion shaped like a book!  Since the plushie will be a little witch, I guess this is her grimoire.

I made the pattern for it myself.  If anyone would like to buy said pattern, contact me!  It's very easy and would make a great project for beginners... Especially those without pin-cushions!

Margarette's First Task

This is my new sewing machine, which I have decided to name 'Margarette.'

I'm so excited for all the projects we'll be doing together!  Speaking of which...

My mp3 player clip got broken clean off, so Margarette's first task will be a doll to attach it to when I carry it, so the little spring from the clip doesn't poke me!  The fabric for the doll's outfit will be a black and gold music note fabric I got from Wal-Mart a few years ago.  I'll post pictures of my cute little fix when it's finished.

Mother's Day

I'm really happy with how Mother's Day turned out this year.  I'd originally planned to make a watermelon basket, but Grandma and Mom enjoyed themselves, so it all worked out in the end.  They really liked the placemats I made, and they loved the little flowers on the fruit plate.  Too cute!  The food was good, too...  Nice, extra-crispy bacon!  Yum!

A Day of Hats

Grandma called me into the living room today to watch the Kentucky Derby, and of course, to help her find the race on television.  Technology isn't exactly kind to people in their seventies!  That being said, I used the built in channel guide and we started watching.  The hats were amazing!  Frilly hats, pink hats, big hats, small hats, hats with ribbons, hats with bows, hats with roses, hats with... Hats with...

Darn.  I wanted to rhyme.  In any case, we got to talking, and Grandma really wants to go to the Derby just once before she passes away.  I'm going to do my best to make it happen!

Checklist:
-Get my Driver's License so I can drive us around Louisville
-Check total costs for the trip
-Make Grandma a special hat for the Derby, and a dress to match
-Make my outfit
-Plan out itinerary for trip
-Raise money to pay for it all

Unforunately, even the internet won't let you get accurate rates for trips this far in advance, so I'll have to wait to price it all!  Wish me luck, alright?  Alright!
